In a first in India, APTransco has installed an electricity-forecasting model using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to forecast the next day’s electricity consumption. The move will help Andhra Pradesh‘s State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) officials in power and grid management, and control purchase costs.
Google has come forward to support this project, along with assistance from the World Bank. Apart from it, several power-generating companies having power purchase agreements (PPAs) with discoms will also give their availabilities daily.
APTransco, with the help of this day-ahead electricity demand forecasting model, tends to develop more day-ahead forecast models for market prices, solar energy, wind energy, central generating stations surplus and frequency.
