The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has entered into a strategic partnership with Wipro GE Healthcare to set up an AI Health Innovations Hub. This collaboration aims to advance healthcare delivery through precision diagnostics, innovative treatment protocols, and real-time patient monitoring, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, said a statement.
Under the partnership, Wipro GE Healthcare will invest $1 million over five years to co-develop and deploy intelligent systems and workflow solutions targeting cardiology, oncology, and neurology.
AIIMS will serve as the clinical partner, providing multi-modal clinical inputs and a real-world environment for evaluating, testing, and deploying AI-enabled healthcare solutions. A joint committee comprising members from both organisations will oversee research, development, and deployment activities, said the company.
According to Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the integration of AI into healthcare could significantly enhance diagnostics, streamline hospital operations, and improve patient outcomes, while potentially boosting India’s GDP by $25–30 billion by 2025.
“This partnership with Wipro GE Healthcare holds strategic value and is aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat through advanced healthcare. With Wipro GE’s expertise in precision care and AI, we aim to accelerate the development of advanced MedTech solutions to improve patient outcomes,” said AIIMS Director Dr. M. Srinivas.
This initiative builds upon Wipro GE Healthcare’s ongoing investments in India’s healthcare sector. Recently, the company announced plans to invest over Rs 8,000 crore in manufacturing and research and development over the next five years, reinforcing its commitment to advancing medical technology and innovation in the country.
“The future of healthcare in India will be driven by technology with AI at the heart of innovation to enable predictive, personalised, and preventive care at scale. With its transformative vision, diverse patient pool, and scale, AIIMS has been at the forefront of redefining care,” said Chaitanya Sarawate, Managing Director, Wipro GE Healthcare South Asia.
“This collaboration is a strong step forward in developing foundation models for transformative clinical care and applications for India and the world,” he added.
The company said that the AI Health Innovations Hub at AIIMS Delhi is expected to play a pivotal role in developing AI-driven healthcare solutions that can be scaled across India and potentially serve as models for global healthcare systems.
By leveraging AIIMS’s clinical expertise and Wipro GE Healthcare’s technological capabilities, the hub aims to create solutions that address critical healthcare challenges, improve patient outcomes, and contribute to the global advancement of precision health.
“We view AI not merely as a tool but as a transformative force to democratise healthcare and enable increased predictiveness, prevention, and precision. Our collaboration with AIIMS to establish the ‘AI Health Innovations Hub’ represents a significant advancement in this journey,” said Parminder Bhatia, Chief AI Officer, GE HealthCare.
