With the aim to bolster the domestic manufacturing capabilities within the EV sector, Servotech Power Systems said that it has entered into two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee for the development of rectifier units for CCS2 chargers and onboard EV chargers for two, three, and four wheelers.

The company said that a key part of the CCS2 charger, the rectifier unit, is currently imported. The partnership aims to shift this narrative by promoting domestic manufacturing, which, in turn, is likely to foster the growth of the local electric vehicle (EV) industry, said a senior executive.

Servotech said that the onboard charger, conceived as a compact and lightweight unit, is designed to be mounted directly on the vehicles, eliminating the requirement for a separate charger and thus enhancing the convenience and user-friendliness of EVs. “This advancement is expected to position Servotech as a leading Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) supplier in the two, three, and four wheelers charger market.”
