With the aim to improve the safety in the state, UP government has started a outreach programme, in which the UP Women Power Line 1090 on Friday launched ‘Humari Surakhsa’ initiative where 1090 reaches out to people digitally, creates awareness, and captures data signals to device integrated solutions.

Senior IPS officer and UP Police ADG Neera Rawat while sharing the roadmap for Digital Chakravyuh (360-degree ecosystem for women safety) programme in UP emphasised the need of having integration between online and offline actions of the organization. “1090 has enough tech power and has chosen to adopt technologies such as and machine learning for the betterment of the services,” Rawat said.

According to Rawat, the new digital programme will ensure ease of use for rural women, psychometric profiling and targeting of offenders, predictive analytics, community participation, and audience engagement to generate awareness for exponential outreach.

A pilot project ‘Vaicharik Samagam’ was earlier launched in partnership with social media giant Facebook. “Conclusions drawn from ‘VaicharikSamagam’ were also discussed. There are 11.16 crore net users including 66% of the rural population. The will be in a phased manner so that we cover all net users and amplify outreach among households.”

While outlining the vision of the new digital initiative Rawat said, “the move looks to reach out to households, rural, urban and students to join hands with WPL 1090 through digital platforms and spread the word.” According to the senior IPS officer, the programme will not just instil fear amongst the heart of offenders but will also be instrumental in bringing a cultural change.
