The National Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhubaneswar, has been granted permission to fly drones for the survey and photograph centrally protected monuments in Odisha.
Ministry of Civil Aviation has granted a conditional exemption to the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar from the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Rules, 2021.
“Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have granted conditional exemption from Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Rules, 2021 to the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar,” said an official release by the Ministry.
The exemption allows the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to use drones to survey and photograph centrally protected monuments.
The NISER has approved drone operations at Rajarani Temple and Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar. This exemption is valid for one year from the date of approval or until further orders, whichever comes first, and is subject to the DGCA’s standard operating procedures.
It was also approved earlier this month for Haryana’s Directorate of Urban Local Bodies (DULB) to use drones for data collection, mapping, and implementation of a web-based GIS platform for the development of AMRUT cities and property tax survey for Hisar, Panchkula and Ambala.
