Bihar bags Digital India Award for using Sahayata Mobile App during lockdown

For its efforts to use technology for transferring financial assistance directly to the accounts of beneficiaries during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Bihar government has won the central government’s .

According to state government, the Chief Minister Secretariat, the Department and the National Informatics Centre (NIC) of the state have jointly been chosen as winners in the ‘pandemic category’.

At a time when state was facing huge flak for unable to efficiently handle the migrant crisis emanating out of sudden lockdown announced by the centre, the government had roped in to provide financial support to stranded workers outside Bihar.

The government claimed to have helped over 21 lakh stranded workers outside Bihar.

The awards is scheduled to be conferred on December 30, 2020 in New Delhi by President Ram Nath Kovind.

Digital India Awards

The Digital India Awards, instituted under the aegis of the National Portal of India, serve the purpose of bringing to the fore innovative digital solutions and thereby inspiring emulation by all government entities.

This year jury included senior government officials from Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (), NIC, STQC, NeGD, Security Council of India, IIT Delhi, Management Development Institute, Gurgaon. Scientist-G & DDG, NIC Alka Mishra was the Member Convener for this year awards.
