Databricks has appointed Jeremy Cooper as vice president of marketing for Asia Pacific and Japan, as the US-based software company seeks to expand its presence across the region amid rising enterprise investment in data analytics and artificial intelligence.
Cooper joins Databricks from Amazon Web Services, where he led marketing across Asia Pacific and Japan, overseeing regional go-to-market efforts across enterprise, public sector and partner ecosystems.
He will be based in Australia and will be responsible for marketing strategy and execution across the APJ region, Databricks said on Tuesday.
Before joining AWS, Cooper held senior marketing roles at Salesforce, Google and LinkedIn, working on global marketing programmes in cloud computing and enterprise software.
Databricks develops software used by organisations to store, process and analyse large volumes of data, including for machine learning and AI-related workloads. The company has been expanding its regional operations as businesses across Asia-Pacific increase spending on cloud-based data infrastructure.
Joseph Puthussery, vice president of global demand generation and field marketing at Databricks, said the appointment comes as customers in the region look to scale their use of data platforms.
Databricks regional expansion
“Jeremy brings deep experience across cloud platforms and regional markets, which will be important as organisations in Asia Pacific and Japan look to unify their data and AI capabilities,” Puthussery said.
Cooper said his focus would be on working with customers and partners across Asia Pacific and Japan as companies seek to extract more value from data amid growing adoption of AI tools.
The appointment follows a series of senior hires by Databricks as it competes with established cloud and data platform providers for enterprise customers in fast-growing Asian markets.
