With the global car majors struggling to rake up sales amid reports of pandemic crippling worldwide sales,  top American car manufacturers are busy driving off-track roads to gain supremacy sadly not in car sales.

Top American carmaker has announced that the manufacturer and its self-driving car unit have sued Ford for calling its automated driving technology BlueCruise.

US car company Ford launched BlueCruise, which allows motorists to drive hands-free, in April. The two-car manufacturers are to US car brands that are looking to push sales as major markets witness sluggish economic recovery.

GM, which acquired the start-up Cruise in 2016, in a lawsuit filed in the district court in Northern California said that Ford is infringing its trademark. “No other company has the right to use these marks in the field of automated driving technology,” GM said in the complaint.

Ford's brand “will inevitably cause confusion,” GM said. With Cruise, GM hopes to be the first major automaker to produce self-driving cars on a large scale.
