NEW DELHI — The Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti has announced a mass communication internship programme for students and research scholars, the ministry said on Tuesday.
The initiative is aimed at giving short-term exposure to students interested in media and communication roles within the government. Selected interns will work on assignments related to the department’s media and social media activities, according to a statement.
The ministry said the programme is open to graduates and postgraduates in mass communication, journalism or related disciplines, as well as students pursuing diplomas in these fields or MBAs in marketing from recognised Indian universities or institutions.
Six- to nine-month term
The duration of the internship will range from six to nine months. Each intern will receive an honorarium of ₹15,000 a month and a certificate on successful completion, the department said.
Applications must be submitted online by 24 November 2025 through the official website of the Ministry of Jal Shakti. Candidates can access the form at https://mowr.nic.in/internship.
The ministry said the programme is designed to familiarise students with the working of a central government department and provide hands-on experience in public communication.
Part of outreach efforts
The Department of Water Resources handles policy and coordination on water resource management, river development and the Namami Gange mission. Officials said the internship would help strengthen communication outreach and public awareness on programmes related to water conservation and river rejuvenation.
The scheme follows similar initiatives across government departments that aim to attract students from professional backgrounds to contribute to communication, data and digital outreach activities.
