The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has invited applications for about 141 positions under its latest hiring campaign, ISRO Recruitment 2025. The drive includes vacancies for scientists, engineers and other technical staff across departments.
According to the official notification, selected candidates will be posted at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), India’s main launch site near Chennai. The centre is responsible for preparing and launching rockets, satellites and other space missions.
The posts available include Scientist/Engineer, Radiographer, Atmospheric Science/Meteorology, Technician, Draughtsman, Nurse and Library Assistant. Interested candidates can apply online through the official portals — isro.gov.in or shar.gov.in — until 14 November 2025.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, while the upper age limit differs by role. ISRO has set a processing fee of ₹750 for applications. However, this amount will be refunded in full to women, candidates from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and Ex-Servicemen categories once they appear for the written test. Others will receive a refund of ₹500 after the test.
The salary structure varies by position. For the Scientist/Engineer category, pay ranges between ₹56,100 and ₹1,77,500 per month (Pay Level 10). Technicians and Draughtsman positions will receive between ₹21,700 and ₹69,100 monthly.
Selection and posting at Satish Dhawan Space Centre
The recruitment process includes a written examination followed by an interview for Scientist and Engineer posts. Each stage carries equal weightage of 50%. For roles such as Technical Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Library Assistant ‘A’, Technician-B, and Draughtsman-B, the selection will involve a skill test instead of an interview.
According to ISRO, appointments will be made at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, which serves as India’s primary spaceport and hosts critical missions of the organisation. The centre, located in Sriharikota near Chennai, is equipped with facilities for rocket assembly, testing, and launch operations.
The recruitment also covers several reserved vacancies under the government’s reservation norms. These include seats for candidates from Unreserved (UR), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and Ex-Servicemen categories.
ISRO Recruitment 2025 aimed at strengthening workforce
An ISRO said the initiative is part of the agency’s plan to strengthen its workforce ahead of upcoming missions. “The recruitment is intended to meet manpower needs across scientific, technical, and support functions,” the spokesperson stated.
Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to ongoing and future space programmes, including satellite launches and mission operations. The new hires will join teams handling spacecraft testing, data analysis, meteorological studies, and technical maintenance.
ISRO has been expanding its activities to include more commercial satellite launches and collaborations with private industry. The organisation continues to attract interest from engineering graduates and science professionals aiming to work in India’s space sector.
Applications must be completed online, and candidates are advised to review eligibility conditions, educational qualifications, and other details carefully before submission. The final date to apply is 14 November 2025.
