Dhaka — If someone is suddenly in danger, people close to him can know his location through a mobile application and rescue him. Mobile apps can help protect women from various forms of harassment. In addition, students, seekers, and teachers can use a special app as a support platform with information, notes, or materials.

These great apps have been created by the female students of this country. Organized jointly by Bangladesh Open Source -BDOSN’s ESDG Project and National Appstore of Bangladesh BD Apps, the three teams were declared the final winners after a selection of 35 teams.

The winners were announced through an online webinar titled ‘Bridging Industry Academy to Increase Participation of Women in ICT Sector Challenges and Scope’ organized by BDOSN on Monday.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Zafar Iqbal said that in order to take the country forward, a change in mentality must be brought. Boys, as well as girls, need to be given separate opportunities to move forward. If we cannot do that, then the country, the society, the state will fall behind. It is possible to inspire girls to do hard work with the words ‘you can’. If given a little chance, they will be able to give much more to the country.

Noting that the participation of girls in the IT sector is low, Munir Hasan said that the share of women in the IT sector is less than 13 percent and IT entrepreneurs are less than 1 percent. Now it is slowly changing. I think this number will increase even more if the girls can be associated with the academy and the news of various events can be conveyed to them.

Altamish Nabil mentioned that the interest of women in this sector is increasingly seeing the variety of questions they have in the workshops with girls. He said that the girls are also very happy to take part in such a competition and win.
