Bangladesh: Trust Axiata Pay launches mobile banking service ‘Tap’

Dhaka: or Tap has been added to the country's mobile banking services list. As a result, various financial services will now be available on mobile through taps like bKash, Rocket.

General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed, Chief of Army Staff and Chairman of Trust Axiata Digital, inaugurated the commercial activities of the service at the head office of the trust bank on Wednesday.

The tap service has been launched to add a new dimension to the country's digital financial transactions and provide secure services to customers, the statement said.

Through this service, customers will be able to receive money deposit, service bill payment, insurance instalment, educational institution fees, submission of recruitment fee of three forces, remittance, online merchant payment and recharge services of all mobile phone operators.

The speciality of ‘Tap' is that one can register to receive the service only through National Identity Card and Selfie. This service alone can be used to pay fees for 56 educational institutions, recruitment fees for three forces and fees for national identity cards and passports.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed said, “Mobile Financial Services or MFS is a sophisticated and useful technology in the current age of technology.

That is why we are going to launch TAP, a joint venture between Trust Bank Limited, a company of Army Welfare Trust, and Axiata Digital Services, Asia's technical giant. ‘

Humaira Azam, Managing Director of Trust Bank, said, “The goal of Trust Bank is to provide the best banking facility to the people of the country.”

“It was with this in mind that we joined the Axiata Group. I believe that with the help of Axiata Group, we will be able to go a long way in providing digital transactions to the people of .”

Dewan Nazmul Hasan, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Trust Axiata Digital Limited, said, “We believe that this initiative of Bangladesh Army and Trust Bank Limited will be welcomed by people from all walks of life.”

Tap will become a symbol of trust in mobile money transactions, he added.

Major General Shakil Ahmed, Vice Chairman of Army Welfare Trust, Brigadier General Abul Mansur Mohammad, Managing Director of Army Welfare Trust also participated in the inaugural function. Many including Ashraf Khan. Axiata Digital Services Chief Executive Officer Khairil Abdullah, Anthony Sheantha Abekun, Board of Directors Subbaraman Vaidyanathan and Chief Strategy Officer Tomu Maruthi participated in the event via video conferencing from Malaysia and Singapore.

‘Tap' is an initiative of Trust Axiata Digital Limited, a joint venture between Trust Bank Limited (TBL) and Axiata Digital Services (ADS).
