Bangladesh: Customer files lawsuits against e-commerce firm Evaly

According to the statement, on May 4 this year, Md Raj ordered 5 products including a television, pen drive, and iron machine from Evaly.

A customer of Sirajganj has filed a case against e-commerce company alleging fraud and shopper harassment.

The case was filed in the court of the District Senior Judicial Magistrate Jasmine Ara around 4 pm on Wednesday. The plaintiff in the case is a resident of Kamarkhand upazila of Sirajganj district.

Sirajganj court inspector Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter to media. Evaly’s managing director Mohammad Russell and chairman Shamima Nasrin have been charged in the case.

According to the statement, on May 4 this year, Md Raj ordered 5 products including a television, pen drive, and iron machine from Evaly.

Delivery must be made within 7 to 45 working days of the product order as per Evaly policy. However, the product was not delivered accordingly.

Raj told, “I ordered 5 products including , pen drives, electric irons from Evaly’s Cyclone offer.” “I have taken refuge in the as I did not get the product in time”.

Plaintiff’s lawyer Manjurul Islam Sohag said the court took cognizance of the case after considering the plaintiff’s statement and documents.

The investigation has been handed over to the District Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).

The court Inspector Abul Kalam Azad said the court had taken up the case. The PBI has been given the responsibility of investigation. The judge was also directed to submit the report immediately.
