Dhaka: According to Ruhul Alam Al Mahbub, chairman of Fair Group, which occupies the largest space in Bangladesh’s high-tech park, the high-tech park will house Hyundai’s electric car factory.
He disclosed this during an online seminar titled “Hi Tech Park: Bangladesh’s IT Hub.” Swapan Bhattacharya, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives, was the chief guest at the online seminar, which was organised by Tapan Kanti Sarkar, President of CTO Forum Bangladesh.
The state minister stated that while many people made jokes about Bangladesh being declared a digital Bangladesh in the beginning, it is now a reality.
“Beginning with the country’s urban residents, even the most marginalised citizens benefit from Digital Bangladesh.”
As a result of the establishment of high-tech parks in divisional cities, people can now find work in their respective divisions rather than commuting to Dhaka, while also attracting foreign investment, he added.
President Tapan Kanti Sarkar highlighted first-tier IT hubs, including Silicon Valley, in his welcome address, and expressed hope that Bangladesh would soon join Hitech Park and that first-tier IT hubs and the CTO Forum Bangladesh would collaborate on other initiatives, including capacity building. Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Managing Director, Hi-Tech Park Authority, delivered the webinar‘s keynote address. He provided a detailed description of the Hi-Tech Park’s facilities and how the Hi-Tech Park collaborates with the companies by providing space and IT startups.
He detailed the 41 hi-tech parks and 68 incubation centres that comprise Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park and invited IT companies from across the country and abroad to visit these hi-tech parks. Additionally, he hinted at collaborating with the CTO Forum.
