Dhaka — The Posts and Telecommunications Minister of Bangladesh Mustafa Jabbar has said that a systematic change in trade and commerce is essential to meet the challenges of the ongoing pandemic.
“The days of showroom-based business are almost over,” he said, adding that the corona pandemic has begun a radical change in the expansion of digital commerce.
The Minister for Posts and Telecommunications said this while addressing a virtual meeting on the crisis of IT technology business in Lockdown and its transition in the Covid-19 situation in Dhaka as the chief guest.
This has been said in a press release of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications on Sunday.
“The current Corona situation is facing the whole world. As a result of the expansion of digital infrastructure in continuation of the Digital Bangladesh program, Bangladesh has been able to continue a relatively the normal way of life.”
In these circumstances, public and private institutions are not functioning without IT devices. The government has considered telecom, internet and postal services as emergency services, he added.
The Minister further said, “Benefits can be reaped if digital product delivery and sales organizations can be brought under the digital platform.”
Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS) has to come forward in this regard. BCS should have an alternative platform. In this case, all possible cooperation will be provided to utilize the 9,000 offices and huge manpower of the postal department across the country. ‘
Mustafa Jabbar further said, ‘Digital Bangladesh is now visible, will be implemented upfront. Digital devices will be transformed into a continuation of this. The market for digital devices in the country has expanded a lot. There are about four crore students in the country, each of whom will need a digital device. So, we have to change the market strategy. ‘
Former President SM Iqbal, media personality Mozammel Babu, BCS leaders Safkat Haider, Sabur Khan, Monirul Islam, Mujahid Al Riruni and others spoke on the occasion under the chairmanship of BCS President Shahid Ul Monir.
In this virtual program, the representatives of Mymensingh, Jessore, Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Barisal and Khulna branches of BCS expressed their views on the role to be played in dealing with the existing situation.
