Dhaka — The State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that Covid-19 pandemic has brought business continuity challenge, so now is not the time for competition but cooperation. He also called on world leaders to introduce digital covid vaccine passports in different countries for their own safety, trade and tourism protection and convenience.
The state minister made the call in a special guest speech at a virtual conference organized by India on Monday to create a digital platform for Covid-19 vaccine.
Minister of State for Corona presented information to the world leaders on various initiatives including the vaccine management system “Suraksha” app in the government system of ICT department of Bangladesh.
He said the platform is being widely used across the country for coronavaccination activities and issuance of certificates.
Palak said Bangladesh’s IT sector is moving forward with four pillars in human resource development, internet connectivity, industry promotion, e-governance under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and under the direct supervision of IT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed.
He said that in the last 12 years, various infrastructures have been created in the IT sector of the country and effective steps have been taken to keep everything including health, education, logistics, supply of agricultural products, entertainment, virtual courts in motion.
In this context, various programs have been launched including telemedicine, corona tracer BD, self corona test, mobile application, financial services, digital content free reading, e-learning and other digital platforms.
In the emerged situation, all these activities are being able to keep the life of the people normal. He also called on the world to work together to tackle Corona. The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi addressed the function as the chief guest through video message.
He emphasized the importance of technology in dealing with corona. He said the Indian-made corona app ‘Argya Setu’ will be available on the open-source platform. Different countries can use it.
