Dhaka — To make the process smooth, hassle-free and fast,  in Bangladesh, this year boro paddy will be collected by the food warehouses with the help of the newly launched mobile application.

The Sadar Upazila administration has taken initiative to provide hands-on training on the use of apps among the grassroots for conducting the collection campaign properly.

Sadar Upazila Food Controller Rebecca Siddique Lipi said 2,401 tonnes of boro paddy will be collected from farmers in Joypurhat Sadar Upazila in the current boro collection- season.

Officially, the price of paddy has been fixed at Tk 27 per kg. In the current boro collection season in Joypurhat Sadar Upazila, farmers have to be provided paddy using farmers’ apps.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Arafat Hossain said that grassroots farmers are being given training and hands-on training on the use of farmer’s apps so that farmers do not have any problem using their apps.

Union chairmen, members, and officials took part in the campaign. The collection campaign for the current Boro season has already been launched. Besides, 5,661 tonnes of rice will be procured from the contracted mill owners at Tk 40 per kg in Sadar Upazila, said, UNO Arafat Hossain.

District Food Controller Gyan Priyo Bidurshi Chakma said the target has been set to procure 9,004 metric tonnes of paddy and 19,327 metric tonnes of rice in the current boro season in Joypurhat district.

Among the five Upazilas of the district, farmers of Sadar Upazila, Kalai, and Panchbibi Upazilas will supply their paddy to the food warehouses using farmer apps and paddy will be collected through a lottery as per the list of farmers in Khetlal and Akkelpur Upazila.
