More than 1.79 crore farmers have registered on the electronic National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) platform, with 1,522 mandis integrated across 23 states and four union territories, the government said on Tuesday.
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ramnath Thakur said the functioning of the e-NAM platform is reviewed from time to time to monitor its performance and penetration among farmers, including small and marginal farmers.
The e-NAM platform is a pan-India electronic trading portal that links existing agricultural produce market committees and enables farmers, traders and buyers to trade agricultural commodities through a digital interface.
As of Jan. 31, 2026, a total of 1.79 crore farmers, including small holder farmers, were registered on the platform, while 1,522 mandis had been integrated to facilitate online trading of agricultural produce, the minister said.
The platform provides farmers access to multiple markets, real-time price information and facilities for quality assaying of agricultural produce. It also offers infrastructure for cleaning, grading, sorting and packaging, enabling farmers to prepare their produce for sale.
Through e-NAM, farmers can access information on nearby mandis within a radius of 100 km, along with route maps and prevailing prices. This allows farmers to make informed decisions on where and when to sell their produce.
The platform also supports e-payments, ensuring timely transfer of sale proceeds to farmers. Facilities such as online farmer registration, farmgate participation, direct participation of farmer producer organisations, integration with AGMARKNET for price discovery and a multilingual mobile application have improved market access and transparency, the government said.
The e-NAM application is available on both web and mobile platforms. A toll-free helpline number has been made available to resolve issues faced by farmers and other stakeholders.
To promote wider adoption, two training programmes are conducted annually for all e-NAM mandis, while tutorial videos are disseminated through social media platforms to familiarise farmers and traders with the digital system.
The government said state-wise trading volumes on the platform have shown steady participation over the past three financial years.
In 2022-23, total agricultural produce traded through e-NAM stood at 18.58 crore metric tonnes, rising to 19.44 crore metric tonnes in 2023-24 and further to 20.47 crore metric tonnes in 2024-25.
Rajasthan recorded the highest trading volume among states, with 65.36 lakh metric tonnes in 2022-23, 58.21 lakh metric tonnes in 2023-24 and 66.09 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25.
Haryana followed with 41.37 lakh metric tonnes in 2022-23, 49.91 lakh metric tonnes in 2023-24 and 44.94 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25.
Madhya Pradesh recorded trading volumes of 17.33 lakh metric tonnes in 2022-23, 17.43 lakh metric tonnes in 2023-24 and 18.04 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25.
Uttar Pradesh reported 7.49 lakh metric tonnes in 2022-23, rising to 8.97 lakh metric tonnes in 2023-24 and 10.89 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25.
Tamil Nadu recorded 5.36 lakh metric tonnes in 2022-23, increasing to 8.25 lakh metric tonnes in 2023-24 before easing to 7.96 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25.
Telangana registered 8.19 lakh metric tonnes in 2022-23, 9.80 lakh metric tonnes in 2023-24 and 8.74 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25.
Maharashtra recorded 11.01 lakh metric tonnes in 2022-23, 7.76 lakh metric tonnes in 2023-24 and 11.65 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25.
Punjab reported 4.85 lakh metric tonnes in 2022-23, 4.11 lakh metric tonnes in 2023-24 and 4.57 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25.
Odisha recorded volumes of 4.45 lakh metric tonnes in 2022-23, 5.01 lakh metric tonnes in 2023-24 and 7.08 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25.
Uttarakhand registered 1.05 lakh metric tonnes in 2022-23, 1.91 lakh metric tonnes in 2023-24 and 2.71 lakh metric tonnes in 2024-25.
Smaller volumes were reported from northeastern states and union territories, including Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Goa, Puducherry, Chandigarh, Ladakh, Delhi and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
e-NAM pushes digital trading and market integration
In addition to bulk agricultural produce, the platform also facilitated trading of 32.27 crore units of number-based commodities, including bamboo, betel leaves, coconut, lemon and sweet corn, during the past three financial years, the government said.
The e-NAM platform aims to create a unified national market for agricultural commodities by digitally integrating mandis and improving transparency in price discovery and transactions.
The government said the platform supports electronic trading, real-time market information and direct digital payments, enabling farmers to participate in a nationwide online marketplace.
