Dhaka — Ahead of Eid ul-Adha and facing the Corona pandemic, a nationwide digital market was launched on Tuesday to enable people to purchase sacrificial animals from the comfort of their homes without having to visit a market.
The online hut is being managed jointly by the ICT Division of the Bangladesh government and the Bangladesh E-Commerce Association (E-CAB). Speaking in an online webinar, S M Rezaul Karim, the Fisheries and Livestock Minister said that both sellers and buyers would receive a fair price.
Keeping yourself safe without having to go to the market, the facility of procuring the sacrificial animal at your residence has been made available online. Because the current government is devoted to establishing a Digital Bangladesh, he explained.
Zunaid Ahmed, State Minister for ICT, stated on the occasion that 241 marginal huts have been connected to a single platform via 1,843 online shops across the country. E-Cab and Ekshop are working together on this. He referred to Digital Hut as a secure, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly option.
“We received a demand for 1.18 crore sacrificial animals last year,” said Raunak Mahmud, secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. However, 94 lakh animals have been sold as a result of the corona.
This year, there are 1 crore 19 lakh sacrificial animals. This year, the online platform will enable us to sell a record number of animals. Abdul Mannan, ATUI’s Project Director, Dewan Mohammad Humayun, ATUI’s Joint Project Director, Shami Kaiser, e-President, Cab’s and NM Ziaul Alam, ICT Department’s Secretary, all spoke on the occasion.

The day before Eid is the final day for animal deliveries. Vendors will be able to sell animals until the day before Eid if they are in the same city.
