Karta AI’s platform is designed to handle what the company describes as complex, multi-intent customer queries, the kind that typically require coordination across multiple systems. Rather than routing calls through interactive voice response menus or transferring customers between agents, the platform attempts to resolve queries without human intervention unless escalation is necessary, according to the company.

Voice AI deployment

The startup cited deployment results at an unnamed home loan company, where it said its voice agent now resolves around 70 per cent of borrower queries end to end. These include queries related to disbursal status, statements of account, foreclosure statements and property document release, the company said. The remaining 30 per cent of cases are escalated to human agents with full context attached, down from 100 per cent previously, according to Karta AI.

The company claimed cost to serve per query dropped by roughly 50 per cent at this deployment, with common queries that previously took hours or days now answered in seconds. At a payments company, Karta AI said its retention agent delivered 25 per cent more conversions than human agents.

“Inbound is where financial institutions carry the most cost and where customers feel the most friction,” said Vijaypal Singh, co-founder and chief executive officer, Karta AI. “We built Karta AI to resolve the hard calls, the ones that need several systems and more than one answer, and to bring in a human only when it matters.”

The company said its platform integrates with enterprise systems and uses what it calls a predictive context engine that learns from past interactions to improve resolution rates over time.

Karthik Prabhakar, managing partner, PeerCapital, said the firm was backing Karta AI’s approach to handling complex, multi-intent dialogue in voice AI.

“Karta AI’s ability to master complex, multi-intent dialogue bridges a critical gap in the market, taking customer experience automation to a whole new level,” Prabhakar said.

Sahil Anand, managing partner at Cedar Hill Capital, said most voice AI companies the firm had encountered were building for outbound calls such as collections, reminders and lead qualification, where the intent is already known. Inbound calls present a harder problem, he said.

“The customer calls in with something you can’t predict, often more than one thing, and the agent has to work out what they need and then actually resolve it,” Anand said. “We haven’t come across many teams solving inbound the way Karta is.”

He added that Karta AI’s agents handle complex queries beyond first-level issues and integrate with institutional workflows to complete tasks rather than simply routing calls.
