- Series has shipped over 500 million units across 100 markets globally
- First smartphones to receive TÜV SÜD 5-star Titan Quality Certification
Xiaomi has unveiled the REDMI Note 17 Series with a Pro Max variant featuring a 9,210mAh silicon-carbon battery, the largest capacity in the company’s mid-range smartphone lineup. The Pro Max model offers up to three days of use on a single charge and can deliver a full day’s power in 20 minutes of charging, according to the company.
The launch extends a smartphone line that has shipped more than 500 million units across over 100 markets in its 12-year history. Xiaomi is positioning the new series as its most durable mid-range offering, with a six-year battery health commitment backed by independent certification.
“REDMI Note Series has continually made premium products more accessible, and delivered premium quality across every product we make,” said Anne Wang, REDMI marketing director, Xiaomi International. “Guided by that focus, it has earned the trust of users around the globe throughout its 12-year history.”
Battery technology
The Pro Max model uses a silicon-carbon battery, a technology that allows higher energy density than conventional lithium-ion cells by incorporating silicon into the battery’s anode. This enables the 9,210mAh capacity within a standard smartphone form factor.
Xiaomi claims the battery system includes smart management features that will maintain battery health for up to six years of use. The device supports 100W HyperCharge, the company’s fast-charging technology that can restore a full day’s battery in 20 minutes when Boost Mode is enabled. The phone also offers 27W reverse charging, allowing it to power other devices.
The Pro models in the series are the first smartphones to receive TÜV SÜD 5-star Titan Quality Certification, an independent testing standard covering battery performance, drop resistance and water resistance. TÜV SÜD is a German certification body that tests products against defined safety and quality standards.
REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G features
The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max carries IP66 and IP68 ratings for dust and water resistance. Xiaomi states the device has been tested for water resistance at two-metre depth for 72 hours. The phone includes what Xiaomi calls Wet Touch Technology 2.0, which allows the touchscreen to function when the display is wet.
For drop protection, the device uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the display and has been certified by SGS, an inspection and verification company, for three-metre drop resistance. The internal architecture has been reinforced to handle impact, according to Xiaomi.
The series introduces a refreshed design with a photochromic Cloud Blush finish on the Pro Max model, a surface treatment that changes colour when exposed to sunlight.
