Assam Police, India Future Foundation sign MoU to bolster cybersecurity capabilities

In a strategic move aimed at reinforcing online safety, India Future Foundation (IFF), one of the country’s leading tech think tanks, has entered into a with the Assam State Police. The is set to aid the state police in bolstering their cybersecurity capabilities.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in the presence of Assam’s Chief Minister, Hemanta Biswa Sarma, outlines IFF’s role in enhancing the state police’s ability to handle cybercrime investigations, manage information security challenges, and acquire cyber forensics skills.

As per the terms of the agreement, any assistance provided by the IFF to the Assam Police will be predicated on obtaining necessary approvals from the State Police. On its part, Assam Police will facilitate access for the IFF team to relevant training sessions and seminars conducted by the state police.

One of the key collaborative efforts highlighted in the agreement is the establishment of a Digital Learning Lab. The lab will serve dual purposes: providing necessary training and fostering awareness about cybersecurity, said a statement.

, founder, India Future Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about assisting the state police in bolstering their cyber capabilities and building a Digital Lab, which, he stated, would significantly contribute to creating a safer online environment.

“It is an honour to be joining hands with the Assam Police for this initiative and look forward the assisting the state police in the transfer of knowledge to bolster their cyber capabilities. We are also happy to be engaging with the Assam Police towards building a Digital Lab. Education centres like these go a long way in establishing a safer online space,” Gaur said.

Harmeet Singh, Special Director General of Police (Admn/Border), Assam, affirmed the value of the agreement in strengthening the force’s cyber capabilities and acknowledged the importance of collaborating with IFF to build a digital lab. He emphasised that education remains a vital tool in countering cybercrimes and expressed his belief that such labs would greatly facilitate this endeavour.

“We look forward to bolstering our cyber capabilities through this agreement. We are also happy to be engaging with IIF in building a digital lab. I truly believe that one of the best ways to countering cybercrimes is by providing the right education and such labs are a step in the direction,” said Singh.
