German luxury car brand Mercedes-Benz India on Monday elevated top company executive Santosh Iyer as new Managing Director & CEO. Iyer succeeds Martin Schwenk who has taken responsibility as the President and Chief Executive Officer, Mercedes-Benz Thailand.
According to Mercedes-Benz India, Iyer is currently working as Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Mercedes-Benz India. The company has also informed in a recent press note these appointments will come into effect starting from Jan 1st, 2023.
Martin Schwenk has been leading Mercedes-Benz India for the last four years and the company says Schwenk has helped ‘strengthened its position’ in the luxury car segment in the country, achieving the highest market share.
“I will personally remember India for the warmth and generosity of the people, our partners and customers. It is truly a dynamic market with immense potential and offers opportunities, making my stint enriching and rewarding. The strong brand loyalty and leadership of Mercedes-Benz in India is remarkable and inspires our customer centricity and customer commitment,” Schwenk said.
On the other hand, Iyer has been associated with Mercedes since 2009. The company says that Iyer has been in leadership roles across diverse functions including Sales, Marketing, Customer Services, Internal Communications and CRM. Since 2016, he has been the Vice President, Customer Services & Retail Training business.
