ICT department and Air Force to work together on cybersecurity in Bangladesh

An MoU has been signed between the Digital Security Agency of the Department of Information Technology and the Bangladesh Computer Council and the Directorate of Cyber Warfare and Information Technology of the Bangladesh Air Force.

Dhaka — The Department of Information Communication Technology () and the Air Force will work together on cybersecurity. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Digital Security Agency of the Department of Information Technology and the Bangladesh Computer Council and the Directorate of Warfare and Information Technology of the Bangladesh Air Force.

Touhidul Islam, Director, Cyber Warfare and Information Technology, Bangladesh Air Force, signed the memorandum on their behalf. The State Minister for Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak was the chief guest on the occasion. Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations) Air Vice Marshal Md. Shafiqul Alam was the special guest.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that it is not possible for a single person or organization to ensure cybersecurity. This requires a concerted effort.

He emphasized the importance of personal and institutional awareness. The team is being further strengthened. The Minister said that 27 important information infrastructures like , , and Passport have been identified (Critical Information Infrastructure Identify).

The IT department is working to protect all these infrastructures. Palak said if digital security agencies, Bangladesh Computer Council, and Bangladesh Air Force work together to exchange information and avoid risks in cybersecurity, better benefits will be reaped.

The event was presided over by NM Ziaul Alam, Senior Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Md. Khairul Amin, Director-General, Digital Security Agency, Perth Pratim Dev, Executive Director, Bangladesh Computer Council, and Director, Digital Security Agency -Gov shirt project director Tareq M. Barkatullah.
