Bangladesh: Nagad bags award for innovation in digital financial service from Global Economics

‘Nagad’ currently has 52 million subscribers, with an average exchane of Tk650 crore per day  in Bangladesh.

Dhaka — The UK-based has rewarded the postal department’s mobile services ‘Nagad’ for creating mobile applications and accelerating financial inclusion through extraordinary innovative initiatives.

The company received the prize of 2021 as the ‘Best Innovative Digital Financial Service’. This information was given by Nagad on Sunday. Earlier last week, financial publication and bi-annual business magazine The Global Limited announced the award to Nagad.

The organization provides feedback on important think tanks on various industries in the global financial sector. The magazine’s award policy states that technology is the key to innovation and prosperity in various important industries.

Recognizing and highlighting digital transformations related to technological innovation is one of the topics on the agenda of the Global Economics Awards.

Launched in March 2019, ‘Nagad’ has already gained global recognition through domestic innovation. Electronic KYC invented by ‘Nagad’ which is the first such innovation in Bangladesh. Through this, the fast-growing operator has played a strong role in the financial inclusion of the Nagad country.

Regarding the announcement of The Global Economics Limited, Tanvir A. Mishuk, Managing Director, Nagad, said, “Nagad has been working for the digitization of the country’s financial sector from the very beginning. Although the beginning was not so easy. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person.
