Johnson Controls ropes in Vijay Sankaran as CTO

The Ireland headquartered conglomerate Johnson Controls which produces security, fire, HVAC, and sustainable building products said that it has roped in Vijay Sankaran as the chief technology officer (CTO).

In this new role, Sanjaran will be responsible for accelerating product software engineering development and expanding customer solutions through the OpenBlue digital platform. He will report to George Oliver, Johnson Controls chairman, and the chief executive officer said the company in a statement.

Sankaran was most recently CIO at TD Ameritrade where he led a team of 2000 employees with responsibility for digital strategy, software engineering, and technology operations.

He has over 20 years of experience working across the globe in a spectrum of industries. Prior to TD Ameritrade, Sankaran worked in Ford Motor Company for over 12 years and moved on from the role of CTO.

Sankaran holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed his MBA from Duke University Fuqua School of Business.
