West Bengal : The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) declared the West Bengal Madhyamik Result 2017 on May 27. WBBSE is expected to declare WBBSE Class 10 results 2017 and WBBSE Class 12 results 2017 on May 27 and May 30, said an official.

The WBBSE Class 10 Exams were held from February 22 to March 3. According to reports, over 10 lakh students have appeared for the WB Madhyamik Exam 2017. Many reports earlier suggested that results may be declared in the mid of May, however board has said that it plans to release the results in the last week of May.

Once the results are announced, it will be available at the official websites of . Last year, around 11.4 lakh students had appeared for the WBBSE 10th Madhyamik examinations, out of which 54.59 percent were girls and 79.62% of could clear the exams. 86.34% boys passed the exams. Last year exams was topped by Souvik Barmam of Mathabhanga High School, Cooch Behar who had scored 683 marks out of 700.

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) is a statutory body that conducts Class 10 examination in the state. All government and private schools in the state come under the purview of the board.

Like other states, in West Bengal, primary education is from Class – I to IV and secondary education is from Class – V to X (Junior High or Upper Primary stage is from class – V to VIII and High School stage is Class – IX and X) and Class-XI and XII constitute the Higher secondary stage.

The entire system has a dual control. According to government, the syllabus and curriculum as well as final evaluation are administered by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education, West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Education & West Bengal Council of Rabindra Open Schooling in their respective areas. The recognition and affiliation parts are also looked after by the  autonomous bodies under the overall guidance of the School Education Department.

Centre invites applications for test centres under legal metrology rules
