US BigTech may soon launch a new Android feature that will help users to share documents with a caption. According to latest reports, the technology major is currently busy testing the new feature.
This also follows reports regarding Meta-owned direct messaging service testing a subscription programme for some users. WhatsApp is constantly beta-testing multiple features for both iOS and Android users.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp's new ‘document caption' feature is being rolled out with the Google Play Beta update version 188.8.131.52. The report also includes screenshots that reveal how this feature (which is now available only for Android beta testers) will work.
The WhatsApp ‘document caption' feature will allow users to include a caption while sharing documents. Android users will be able to find a “caption bar” which they can use to attach a caption to any document. The caption bar is expected to appear whenever users try to select a document.
This feature can be helpful as documents that come with a caption are easier to search and find. Currently, this feature is available only for a select number of beta testers and Meta is expected to bring the feature to more Android beta users.
This is not the only new feature that is being pushed by the US Bigtech major. WhatsApp recently started testing an optional Premium subscription for business accounts which is meant to help customers reach businesses easily. This new subscription plan is available for both Android and iOS beta users.
Also by joining the WhatsApp Premium plan, businesses will be able to link up to 10 devices. Moreover, users can also unsubscribe from the plan according to their discretion. This feature is expected to roll out for all business accounts soon.
Apart from this, WhatsApp is also testing another feature that will prevent users from taking “screenshots” of view-once images and videos. This feature is currently being tested for iOS beta users.
