Bangladesh ‘Huawei Carrier Congress 2021’ kicks off to amplify digital growth

Dhaka — Leading global ICT solutions provider Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited has started a special event titled “Huawei Carrier Congress 2021” with industry stakeholders from home and abroad. The congress aims to exchange views about technology trends and other aspects that may influence the tech world in the coming days.

The event was virtually inaugurated by Mustafa Jabbar, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Division on April 29, 2021, and it will be continued till the end of May. BTRC Chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder was present at the event as the special guest while Edward Zhou, Vice President, Global Public Affairs of Huawei; Zhang Zhengjun, Chief Executive Officer, Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited; Xu Dongjian, CTO, Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited and Tao Guangyao, COO, Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited, graced the occasion with their presence.

Scott W Minehane, Managing Director of Windsore Place Consulting and Amit Reaz from Asia Pacific Office of ITU also joined the event with their insightful presentation on ‘National Reference Sharing' and ‘: Expectation and Considerations for IMT2020roll out' respectively. Additionally Konesh Kochhal, Director, Industry Ecosystem Engagements, Huawei Asia Pacific Region talked about Digital Bangladesh Opportunities.

Various MNOs, including the operators, partners, regulators, think tanks, academia, from Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal are expected to join this event in the next few days virtually and physically maintaining precautions for COVID 19.

As a localized global provider of ICT infrastructure, Huawei is committed to helping the industry expand the boundaries of their business and look for new paths that will ensure growth. To explore these opportunities and more, this event has been arranged where participants and discussants will exchange views about technology trends and business solutions. Most importantly, Huawei will be showcasing the latest innovations from their R&D for knowledge sharing and enlightenment. With this demonstration, the industry players will be well aware of the potential ICT inclusions to different industries and how those inclusions can be beneficial in the socio-economic aspect. The congress will also discuss innovations in the telecom sector.

In his speech, Jabbar said, “The government, under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the guidance of her ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, we are very sincere in making the dream of Digital Bangladesh a reality. We have established the as a significant sector of the country. And now we are relishing the outcomes of the direction we took.”

He added, “The rapid march of Bangladesh towards comprehensive digital transformation is very encouraging and satisfying indeed, and I would like to thank Huawei for being one of the enabling forces of our digital transformation. An event like today will also contribute a lot as it will inspire us to think out of the box and explore ideas necessary to cope with an intelligent world awaiting us in the near future.”

BTRC Chairman Sikder, said, “Huawei has organized this congress as a common platform to facilitate the exchange of knowledge among national and international organizations and individuals. This arrangement has a great potential to amplify the digital growth of Bangladesh by broadening the thinking process of everyone. I would like to thank Huawei for its hard work and support in making Digital Bangladesh a reality. This company is one of the pioneers in digital and telecommunications technology and we hope you will continue your efforts long into the future.”

In his welcome speech Edward Zhou, said, “Bangladesh has our sincere commitment with our utmost capabilities and dedication to the digital journey of this country. As a localized global provider of ICT infrastructure, we will be helping industries expand by transcending the boundaries of their business and exploring new horizons, especially when it comes to digital innovation, to help digitize industries and improve people's lives for a smarter, faster, and more inclusive tomorrow about by the digital transformation here.”

About the event, he shared, “Huawei Carrier Congress will be showcasing almost all the latest solutions and ways of digital transformation around the globe and intensify the growth opportunity of ICT in Bangladesh. It can work as a bridge for collaborative and common understanding among the regulator, operators, and other business industry players.”

Zhang Zhengjun, Chief Executive Officer, Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited, shared, “At Huawei, we will continuously increase the R&D investment that allows us to keep enhancing the competitiveness of our products and services, promoting open innovation, and creating greater value for our customers and society at large. Inspired by the theme ‘Lighting up the Future,' the event will shed light on issues related to intelligent networks, digital O&M, the foundation for digital services, 5GtoB, building the future with tech industry and technology for a better world. Guests present at the event on opening day also delivered speeches on different pertinent topics.
