IBM pushes cloud tech to next level, unveils ‘Cloud Satellite’ services accessible from any ‘environment’

Pushing the technology upgrade to the next level, tech giant IBM has released its hybrid cloud services that will be available in any environment — on any cloud, on-premises or at the edge — through IBM Cloud Satellite.

According to the technology giant, the IBM Cloud Satellite brings a secured, unifying layer of cloud services for clients across environments, regardless of where their resides. The new cloud-based technology will not just maintain higher standards of data privacy but will also serve all premium clients with interoperability and open standards found in hybrid cloud environments.

“This hybrid cloud service would be essential to help address critical data privacy and data sovereignty needs,” the company said in a statement.

IBM has also maintained that industries including telecommunications, services, healthcare and government can now benefit from reduced latency that comes with analyzing data securely at the edge.

“The Software Labs contributed majorly to the development of the IBM Cloud Satellite. The team at India Labs played an important role in delivering IBM Cloud Satellite features that enable automated deployment of solutions on IBM and other Cloud service providers,” IBM said.

The new cloud satellite is also likely to enhance the efficiency of services such as , remote work, telehealth services as they shift their operations to the cloud. Lumen Technologies and IBM have integrated IBM Cloud Satellite with the Lumen edge platform to enable businesses to harness hybrid cloud services in near real-time and build innovative solutions at the edge.

IBM has also announced to extend ‘Watson Anywhere’ with the availability of IBM Cloud Pak for Data as a Service with IBM Cloud Satellite. With the new technology in place, the users will get further flexible, secure ways to run their AI and analytics workloads as services across any environment, said the company.

“IBM is working with clients to leverage advanced technologies like edge computing and AI, enabling them to digitally transform with hybrid cloud while keeping data security at the forefront,” Howard Boville, Head of IBM Hybrid Cloud Platform said.
