Tesla backed Starlink eyes global reach with 300Mbps internet speed

Preferred Source of Google

With over 1,000 Starlink satellites by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, already placed in orbit, the cheaper web access with high by space-based Starlink service both domestically and internationally is set to literally double the internet speed to 300Mbps this year.

“Speed will double to 300Mb/s & latency will drop to 20ms later this year,” Musk said in a tweet early this week.

According to the tech tycoon and CTO of SpaceX, Starlink projects are set to cover “most of Earth by end of the year, all by next year, then ‘it’s about densifying coverage.”

Earlier this month, Musk also confirmed that his company Starlink will go public after the flow of the service becomes “reasonably well”. “Important to note that cellular will always have the advantage in dense urban areas. Satellites are best for low to medium population density areas,” Musk added.

The high-speed internet services of Starlink will also be available in areas of the globe where connectivity has typically been a challenge. The Federal Communications Commission () in the US has awarded SpaceX $886 million as part of a programme to help bring high-speed Internet to the country’s rural areas.
