In a bid to promote information technology for attracting investment, the Uttar Pradesh government will be setting up IT parks in all 18 divisions of the state. The parks, being set up by Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), are expected to become functional in Agra, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Varanasi, during the first half of 2021. According to officials, work will begin on the development of IT parks in Aligarh, Azamgarh, Jhansi and Saharanpur. Dinesh Sharma, Minister for information and technology and deputy chief minister informed that a new dedicated data centre policy is also on the cards. “Under the proposed policy, a 250 MW (IT power) data centre industry is to be developed in the state to attract an investment of about Rs 20,000 crore. At least three state-of-the-art private data centre parks will be set up,” Sharma said.
