Recalibrating Security Operations Center in New Normal

Over the last few years, there has been significant digitalisation of government organisations across the country, and the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated this move. To ensure business continuity and effective public service delivery, government departments have stepped up their investment in technology.The indispensable IT infra such as data centres, applications, cloud systems, departmental servers and integrated digital devices have now become even more vital. Overnight, the demands placed on the digital infrastructure have skyrocketed, so does the surface for cyber-attacks.Based on the past learnings and effectiveness of integrated centre for managing cybersecurity, both central & state governments and public sector undertakings (PSUs) have started setting up Security Operation Center (SOC) and Network Operation Centre (NOC).These centres have proven to be a great strategy to mitigate the cybersecurity challenge as they offer better visibility to continuously monitor and improve security posture while preventing, detecting, analysing, and responding to cybersecurity incidents.However, this is easier said than done because a typical SOC infrastructure is full of heterogeneity.
