Finnish telecom firm has teamed up with Indian digital infrastructure provider to expand the latter's optical network in India's eastern and northern regions. The deal involves providing Nokia's latest WDM optical line system solutions for the network expansion, including consulting and integration services, enabling Lightstorm to deliver enhanced services to its enterprise customers with reduced latency, 100% uptime, and end-to-end control and management capabilities.

Lightstorm has completed the coverage enhancement of its SmartNet long-haul route and is expanding coverage across India using Nokia's 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) optical transport platform, with an expanded total capacity to multi-terabytes, said the company.

Both the firms stressed that the network upgrade will help Lightstorm meet the increasing demands of its customers and support the Digital India initiative. Nokia's fifth-generation coherent optic chipset (PSE-V) offers network resiliency in the event of multiple fiber cuts and ensures high-capacity, automated, cutting-edge digital services for enterprise customers across India.

Vinish Bawa, Head of Enterprise, Webscale & Emerging business, India at Nokia, said the partnership showcases the company's industry-leading portfolio in optical networking and is integral to the Digital India vision.

“Nokia's DWDM products offer high capacity and automation to enable cutting-edge digital services for enterprise customers across India. Our partnership with Lightstorm showcases our industry-leading portfolio in optical networking which will be integral to the Digital India vision,” said Bawa.

Lightstorm Chief Operating Officer Rajiv Nayyar added that the partnership with Nokia would help the company achieve its goals of rapid network route expansion with the benefit of added capacity.

“Our partnership with Nokia will help us achieve our goals of rapid network route expansion with the benefit of added capacity. The expanded coverage will help Lightstorm cater to our customers' increasing demand and help drive the Digital India vision,” Nayyar said.
