Noida Police Crackdown: 12,358 challans in 48 hours to promote road safety

Noida police launched a two-day traffic enforcement campaign over the weekend, resulting in the impounding of 86 vehicles and the issuance of 12,358 challans for various traffic violations.

With the aim to enhance road safety, launched a two-day traffic enforcement campaign over the weekend, resulting in the impounding of 86 vehicles and the issuance of 12,358 challans for various traffic violations.

The initiative, conducted across key areas such as Rajnigandha Chowk, Sector 37, and Sector 62 Roundabout, aimed to curb the increasing instances of traffic rule infringements.

According to the police, Saturday saw the issuance of 7,406 e-challans and the seizure of 47 vehicles. Among the violations recorded, 4,630 were for riding without helmets, 249 for driving without seat belts, and 141 for triple riding. Other infractions included 44 cases of mobile phone use while driving, 863 vehicles parked in no-parking zones, and 563 instances of driving in the wrong direction.

Additionally, there were 49 noise pollution violations, 77 air pollution violations, 186 vehicles with faulty number plates, 216 instances of jumping red lights, and 55 cases of driving without a license.

The campaign's momentum continued on Sunday with the issuance of 4,952 e-challans and the seizure of 39 vehicles. The violations on this day included 3,630 instances of riding without helmets, 103 for driving without seat belts, 87 for triple riding, and 19 for using mobile phones while driving.

Other significant infractions included 431 vehicles parked in no-parking zones and 202 vehicles driving in the wrong direction. There were also 27 noise pollution violations, 42 air pollution violations, 77 vehicles with faulty number plates, 96 instances of running red lights, and 55 cases of driving without a license.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Kumar Yadav while talking to news agency PTI emphasised the campaign's aim to promote road safety and maintain smooth traffic flow under the directives of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh.

Yadav stated, “The comprehensive enforcement action is part of the ongoing efforts by Noida Police to enhance traffic discipline and ensure safer roads for all commuters.”

The crackdown has been praised for its focus on critical areas impacting road safety, such as helmet use, lane discipline, and red-light violations. The emphasis on reducing noise and air pollution through stricter checks on vehicle emissions and the use of unauthorised signaling devices has also been noted as a step towards creating a cleaner environment.

According to officials, this enforcement campaign is part of a series of efforts by the Noida Traffic Police to address the growing concern of traffic violations in the region. Previous campaigns have also targeted the use of illegal sirens, beacons, and government symbols on private vehicles, further illustrating the comprehensive strategy employed by the authorities to tackle various facets of traffic misconduct.
