Karnataka govt appoints Rakesh Singh as Tumakuru Smart City chairman

The Karnataka government has appointed principal secretary, Water Resources Rakesh Singh as the new chairman of . The senior IAS officer has also been given the responsibility of district-incharge secretary for Tumakuru, said a government note.

Singh succeeds 1989-batch IAS Shalini Rajneesh who has been has been chairman since the formation of Tumakuru . Currently she is serving as the principal secretary, Department of Planning, Programme Monitoring and Statistics.

Located 70 kilometer from Bengaluru, Tumakuru Smart City is planned to spread across 1354.97 acres of land with the invest of Rs 1800 crore.

Recently, Tumakuru and the Danish city of Aalborg signed a (MoU) to improve city’s infrastructure under a smart city initiative. Both the organisations plan to engage in programme of cooperation on Smart City solutions, as part of the basis for creating more sustainable and smarter liveable cities.

The organisation was also in the news for abrubtly getting transfer of its popular MD T Bhoobalan before he could received the ‘Best MD’ national award given by Smart City Council of India.
