What would be the best way of saying sorry for the mistake made in the past by a multinational giant –possibly give back to the customers and that is what Samsung seems to be doing with its newly launched Samsung Note 8. Yes, the South Korean smartphone maker is offering a massive $425 (Rs 28,000) off on Note 8 to all the person who own a Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
The readers will recall that Samsung Galaxy Note 7 became popular not for its specs but for fire and causing injury to customers in different parts of the world. In fact, airlines had to advise the passenger not to carry Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on the flight.
The accident not only brought negative coverage but cost a lot to the company. But Samsung like a true giant is keeping its promise alive. As announced earlier to give Note 7 owners a price reduction on the Note 8, Samsung is offering the massive discount to all the owners of Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
To get the benefit of this offer customers will have to prove the ownership of the phone which could be done with the help of email address that were used while buying the phone or when the recall message were sent. All those people who are using the phone, they can also take this trade in offer and send Note 7 back.
According to terms and condition mentioned on the Samsung website, If a user is going to trade in a phone Samsung gives 15 days to get the old one back to them. This allows a user time to move data over – a problem some owners had with the recall on the Note 7, where they were not allowed time to move data to a new phone. Samsung also requires that user wipe phone, but no lock should be left on it. Samsung also pays postage on the return and will send a shipping label with Note 8.
With the Note 8 starting about $960 (Rs 63,000) customer will pay $535 (Rs 35,000) for the device if one take advantage of this generous trade-in. Unfortunately, this discount is only available to US customers right now and there is no updates from the company if same would be made available to other markets like Europe, UK, India etc.
