Samsung cuts prices on Galaxy smartphones in India ahead of festive season

Samsung has announced festive season price cuts on several Galaxy smartphones in India, aiming to boost sales in the world’s second-largest smartphone market.

GURUGRAM – Samsung Electronics said on Thursday it will reduce prices on several Galaxy in India as the South Korean company seeks to attract buyers during the festive season.

The discounts will apply to high-end models including the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 FE, as well as mid-range and budget models such as the Galaxy A55 5G, A35 5G, M36 5G, M16 5G, M06 5G, F36 5G and F06 5G.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra, which launched at ₹129,999 rupees, will be available at ₹71,999. The Galaxy S24 will be sold for ₹39,999 compared with ₹74,999 earlier, while the Galaxy S24 FE will be priced at ₹29,999, down from ₹59,999.

The Galaxy A55 5G will cost ₹23,999, a 42% reduction, while the A35 5G will be priced at ₹17,999. The company said its M series and F series phones, which target younger consumers, will also see price cuts of up to 30%.

The offers, which take effect from Sept 22, come as makers seek to tap into strong seasonal demand in India, the world’s second-largest mobile market.

The September to November festive period is traditionally one of the busiest for electronics sales as consumers spend more during festivals such as .

Samsung said the devices include AI-enabled features such as real-time translations, AI-assisted photo editing and improved low-light photography. The company has been using artificial intelligence as a key differentiator across premium and mid-range models.

According to research firm Counterpoint, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has been one of the best-selling premium smartphones in India this year.

The company faces stiff competition from rivals including Apple, Xiaomi and Vivo, all of which are expected to step up promotions in the coming weeks.
