Limited posted a 161 per cent quarter-on-quarter surge in operating profit for the April to June quarter, with earnings per share swinging back to positive territory after a loss-making previous quarter.

The Mumbai-based IT solutions and services company reported consolidated EBITDA, a measure of operating profit that excludes interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation, of ₹15.42 crore for Q1 FY27. This compares with ₹5.91 crore in the preceding quarter.

Revenue from operations rose 9.70 per cent sequentially to ₹201.92 crore, up from ₹184.07 crore in Q4 FY26. The company’s EBITDA margin expanded by 438 basis points, meaning 4.38 percentage points, to reach 7.57 per cent from 3.19 per cent in the previous quarter.

The earnings turnaround was sharp. Consolidated EPS moved from negative ₹1.09 in Q4 FY26 to positive ₹1.13 in Q1 FY27, a sequential improvement of ₹2.22 per share.

Insurance contracts

Orient Technologies secured two significant contracts in the insurance sector during the quarter. The company won a ₹20 crore engagement with a public-sector insurance company and a ₹24 crore cloud services contract with a general insurance company.

The company said these wins demonstrate its ability to address enterprise requirements across digital infrastructure, cloud, networking and managed technology services.

Ajay Sawant, chairman and managing director, Orient Technologies, said the quarter reflected continued business momentum alongside improved operating profitability.

“Q1 FY27 marked a strong sequential improvement in our performance, with revenue growing 9.7 per cent while EBITDA increased 161 per cent, resulting in a 438 basis-point expansion in EBITDA margin,” Sawant said.

He added that the company had strengthened its managed services offering through OHMS 2.0, described as the next evolution of its managed services framework. The platform brings together infrastructure management, cloud operations, cybersecurity and service management capabilities.

“Cybersecurity continues to be a strategic growth area for Orient Technologies as enterprises face an expanding threat landscape and increasing regulatory and operational complexity,” Sawant said.

Leadership changes

The company announced two appointments to its leadership team. Shailesh G Mandani was named chief officer, having previously held senior roles within the organisation including involvement in the company’s initial public offering.
