Multi-agent AI platforms differ from single-purpose AI tools by enabling multiple specialised AI programmes, called agents, to communicate and collaborate on tasks that require different capabilities. A customer service operation might use one agent to understand queries, another to search databases and a third to generate responses, with an orchestration layer coordinating their work.

The growth projections reflect rising enterprise demand for intelligent automation, according to the report. Businesses are deploying AI agents to automate processes ranging from software development to customer interactions and IT operations, with generative AI tools creating additional demand for systems that can manage multiple AI models working in coordination.

Market segments

Software platforms that enable the development and coordination of AI agents held approximately 68 per cent of the market in 2025, the report stated. Cloud-based deployment dominated with 73 per cent market share, driven by lower infrastructure requirements and faster deployment timelines compared to on-premises installations.
