Wipro GE Healthcare has introduced the Versana Premier R3, an AI-enabled ultrasound system. The system, which aims to enhance clinical efficiency and accuracy, will be manufactured at the company’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) factory in Bengaluru, in line with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, said a statement.
The Versana Premier R3 incorporates artificial intelligence to streamline workflows, improve diagnostic precision and support better patient outcomes. According to the company, the system is equipped with automation tools and AI-driven features designed to address the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in India.
The ultrasound system is expected to assist clinicians in delivering personalised and preventive care while reducing administrative workloads.
Chaitanya Sarawate, Managing Director, Wipro GE Healthcare South Asia, said, “At Wipro GE Healthcare, we continue to make advancements in AI, investing in foundation models that can help enhance precision care, ease clinical workflows and enable better patient outcomes.”
“The launch of our Versana Premier R3 is yet another testament to our commitment towards the delivery of ‘Made in India MedTech – for India and the world,” he said.
The Versana Premier R3 features advanced ‘VisionBoost architecture’ and 8-million-channel digital processing, which the company claims delivers superior image clarity. The system is compatible with 23 different probes, enabling dynamic organ scanning. It also includes a self-learning onboarding tool designed to help clinicians adapt to new workflows and enhance their skills.
A recent report by PwC highlighted that 57% of healthcare providers in India are using AI, a significantly higher adoption rate compared to global averages. Wipro GE Healthcare’s latest offering aims to leverage AI to improve diagnostic capabilities and address the skill gap in the healthcare sector.
Wipro GE Healthcare has been a key player in the ‘Make in India’ initiative, with several products, including the Revolution Aspire CT system and Optima IGS320 AI-enabled Cath Lab, being manufactured at its Bengaluru facility.
Earlier this year, the company announced an investment of over Rs 8,000 crores in manufacturing output and local research and development over the next five years.
Anup Kumar, Business Head of Ultrasound, Wipro GE Healthcare, said, “With the growing NCD burden in the country, there is a pressing need for advanced patient-centric technologies that can provide faster, personalised and more accurate diagnosis.”
“Powered by AI, Versana Premier R3 delivers exceptional image clarity and versatile organ scanning, enhancing diagnostic precision and empowering clinicians to make timely and well-informed decisions,” he added.
