According to Garg, they are closely looking at the report and will make necessary changes and will also take into account the audit report and recommendations related to Bal Aadhaar cards and other aspects.

The CAG claimed in its report that granting Aadhaar numbers to children under the age of five based on their parents’ biometrics violated the Aadhaar Act’s fundamental premise. Additionally, the audit stated that the project incurred an “avoidable expenditure” of Rs 310 crore.

CAG urged the UIDAI to conduct a review of the Bal Aadhaar project and identify alternate means of establishing children’s unique identities, particularly in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling that no child would be denied benefits due to a lack of an Aadhaar certificate.
