The National Career Service portal has mobilised more than 10.05 crore job vacancies since its inception, with 17.68 lakh positions currently active, Union labour minister Mansukh Mandaviya told the Lok Sabha on 3 August.
The employment platform, which replaced the earlier National Employment Service, has registered 6.64 crore jobseekers since launch. Of these, 2.89 crore remain active users seeking employment opportunities through the government-run service.
The disclosure came in a written reply to a parliamentary question about the portal’s performance and reach across states.
The NCS portal operates as a single platform offering job listings from both private and government sectors, career counselling, vocational guidance and information on skill development courses. The service is available at www.ncs.gov.in.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment has upgraded the platform to a cloud-based system, meaning the service runs on remote servers that can scale to handle increased user traffic. Recent enhancements include AI-powered features such as intelligent job matching, which uses algorithms to pair jobseeker profiles with suitable vacancies, and skill gap analysis that identifies training needs.
The portal now offers an AI interview coach to help candidates prepare for job interviews, along with multilingual support through Bhashini, the government’s translation platform. A mobile application has also been launched to improve access for users on smartphones.
NCS private partnerships
The ministry has signed more than 40 memoranda of understanding with private and public employers to expand job opportunities on the platform. Partners include Amazon, Swiggy, Rapido, Zomato, TCS iON, Quikr and FoundIt, formerly known as Monster.
These partnerships bring additional job listings, job fairs and skill development programmes to NCS users. The portal is also connected to government systems including Udyam, the MSME registration portal, eShram for unorganised workers, Skill India Digital Hub, and databases of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation and Employees’ State Insurance Corporation.

Recruitment bodies integrated with the platform include the Union Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board and Railway Recruitment Boards.
The government has approved 407 Model Career Centres to deliver employment services at the local level. These centres, which evolved from the transformation of 370 existing Employment Exchanges, organise job fairs, connect with employers and provide in-person career counselling.
A total of 31 states and union territories have integrated their systems with the NCS portal. Eight of these use the central platform directly rather than maintaining separate state employment portals.
