Andhra Pradesh to resurvey and digitise all land records

With the aim to streamline the land records management system in the state, the government is mulling to take a full-fledged resurvey and digitisation of all the lands in urban and rural areas across the state from January 1, 2021.

According to senior government officials, the digitisation of land records will eliminate any scope of manipulation which has become a significant menace after the bifurcation of the state.

Also, this push for resurvey comes from the success of a resurvey done in Thakkellapadu of Jaggayyapeta mandal in Krishna district. According to officials, the government is likely to rope-in modern technologies such as , aerial and mobile workstations to conduct the resurvey.

According to sources, after the Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy reviewed the records of a resurvey taken up on an experimental in Thakkellapadu of Jaggayyapeta mandal, he instructed the officials to start the resurvey on a massive scale from January 1, 2021.

“On being satisfied with the resurvey results, the chief minister instructed the officials to implement the same method throughout the state and start the work simultaneously in urban and rural areas on the new year day,” said an official, adding that “he also asked them to chalk out a programme to complete the entire resurvey of all lands in the state by the end of August 2023.”

According to reports, the government is planning to constitute as many as 4,500 teams who will work in areas such as designing the boundary marker stones, arranging base stations and mobile tribunals for the state-wide resurvey programme which will use drones in a big way.

The government will also be roping-in professional trainers to provide the training for using drones and other allied equipments. The services of sub-registrars and village secretariats will also be used extensively in the programme, said a government note.
