, a US-based loyalty technology company, has established a technology hub in Bengaluru with approximately 50 professionals as part of its strategy to build artificial intelligence capabilities across its product portfolio.

The company, which provides loyalty programme software to Fortune 500 brands, said on Wednesday (22 July) that the India operations would focus on software engineering, , cloud engineering and AI governance — a framework for ensuring AI systems operate within ethical and regulatory boundaries.

The Bengaluru team is recruiting across multiple technical functions including MLOps, which refers to practices that combine machine learning development with IT operations to deploy and maintain AI models in production environments.

University partnerships for talent pipeline

Kobie has signed internship agreements with four Indian universities, though the company did not name the institutions. The paid internship programme will cover AI engineering, data science and product engineering roles.

“Our goal in India is to create an environment where innovators solve complex business challenges by leveraging AI, while advancing their own professional development,” said Raghuveer KS, assistant vice president of AI engineering and Kobie India site lead.

“This means building teams that understand the business problem first, then design AI solutions intentionally. We are looking for people who are curious, willing to test new approaches, and equally committed to doing it responsibly.”

The company said AI capabilities are being embedded into its loyalty technology products rather than treated as a separate business function. Its flagship product, Alchemy Loyalty Cloud, is a software platform that enables brands to create and manage customer loyalty programmes.

“India is becoming an integral part of Kobie’s business transformation,” said Marti Beller, president, Kobie. “We are not treating AI as a separate function. It has a seat at the table in every product decision, every engineering initiative, and every customer outcome we drive.”

The company said it has received third-party workplace culture certifications, including recognition as a National Top Workplace in the United States and a Top Remote Workplace designation.

Bengaluru expansion

The Bengaluru hub adds to the city’s concentration of global technology centres, with multinational companies increasingly locating AI and engineering teams in the Karnataka capital due to the availability of technical talent.
