Ahuja brings more than 30 years of experience in enterprise technology and market expansion across India and the broader Pacific region. Most recently, he worked as a strategic adviser to emerging technology companies, helping them scale operations in AI, cloud computing and cybersecurity.

In his new role, Ahuja will lead Elastic’s strategy and growth across India, focusing on helping organisations build AI applications that draw on their existing business data rather than relying solely on general-purpose AI models.

Sanjay Deshmukh, Vice President of Asia Pacific and Japan at Elastic, said the appointment addresses a shift in enterprises approach AI deployment. “Organisations globally and in India are now under pressure to turn AI investment into real outcomes,” Deshmukh said. “That requires more than models and the ability to build agents; it requires access to the right data and context.”

Search technology, the field Elastic specialises in, allows AI applications to retrieve relevant information from these disparate sources without requiring companies to move or duplicate their data, a process that can be costly and raise security concerns.

“Across India, organisations are quickly realising that AI is only as effective as the data behind it,” Ahuja said. “The opportunity now is to build AI applications and agents that are grounded in real enterprise data, bringing models closer to the systems, signals and knowledge they depend on.”

Ahuja said his immediate focus would be on helping Indian customers translate their AI investments into systems that deliver quantifiable results. Elastic’s technology is used by organisations to power search functions, monitor application performance and detect security threats, all areas where AI capabilities are increasingly being integrated.
