US-based savings and retirement services provider Ascensus has appointed John Shapiro as Chief Product Officer and a member of its executive leadership team, the company said on Tuesday.
Shapiro, who previously served as Chief Product Officer at Lightspeed Commerce, will report directly to Ascensus CEO Nick Good. He will oversee the company’s product strategy, development and delivery across its businesses.
The appointment comes as Ascensus seeks to improve its client experience and integrate its technology and product offerings. Shapiro will lead the company’s product organisation, with responsibility for aligning product development with client requirements and business priorities.
“Delivering an exceptional client experience is central to that strategy. We want to make it easier for clients and partners to do business with us while creating more connected solutions and better outcomes,” Good said.
Shapiro brings experience in product development and technology leadership, having previously held senior roles at Wayfair, Intuit and Adobe Systems. His work has included managing large product teams and developing technology products for businesses serving millions of users.
“Ascensus stands out for its clear purpose, talented team, and unique position in the market,” Shapiro said.
He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Stanford University.
Ascensus provides retirement plan administration, education savings programmes and other financial services to individuals, businesses and institutions in the United States.
The company said it supports more than 16 million savers and had over $1.3 trillion in assets under administration as of August 3, 2026.
