Some students have challenged this pattern, arguing that by framing different question papers, CBSE had denied them a level playing field. On this ground, Justice M V Muralidharan has granted an interim injunction asking the government not to publish results until June 7.

The court also directed the Union health and family welfare secretary, DG health services, Medical Council of India (MCI), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Government of Tamil Nadu to reply by June 7. According to reports, with none of the concerned agencies seeking an early hearing, it is unlikely that the NEET 2017 result would be declared on June 8.
