Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has urged the Karnataka government to postpone the K-CET exams scheduled for July 25 due to the state’s persistent rainfall. The Karnataka Examination Authority regulates the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (K-CET).
It is conducted every year to determine eligibility for admission to professional programmes such as Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharma), Diploma in Pharmacy (DPharma), Agriculture (Farm Science), and Veterinary Medicine.
Siddaramaiah, a senior Congress leader, said in a tweet that numerous areas in North Karnataka are submerged due to heavy rains. and people have lost their connectivity as well as their ability to communicate.
“Many parts in North Karnataka are submerged due to heavy rainfall. People have lost both connectivity and communication. This being the situation, I urge @CMofKarnataka to postpone the K-CET exams which were scheduled on 25 July, in the interest of candidates from North Karnataka,” he tweeted.

The India Meteorological Department (IMS) has forecast extremely heavy rain in several districts of Karnataka, with flooding already occurring in several.
Additionally, the weather department has issued a red alert for Udupi, Uttara Kannada, and Dakshina Kannada, as well as southern Karnataka’s Hassan, Kodagu, and Shivamogga.
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has deployed disaster response teams to Uttara Kannada’s rain-affected areas in order to rescue and assist stranded persons. Officials reported that 155 people have been rescued thus far.
