Dhaka: The State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has said that building a digital economy is essential for the implementation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Vision: 2041.
Robotics must be given priority in achieving that goal. “Our next goal is to build a smart nation by building a digital economy and knowledge-based society,” he said.
The Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of “4th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad 2021″ on a virtual platform here today.
The state minister said the ICT sector has stood on a four-pillar solid foundation under the leadership of Sajeeb Wazed, the Prime Minister’s Adviser on ICT, for the past 12 years. Through this, internet connectivity has reached the union.
That is why the number of internet users in the country stands at around 12 crore and it has been possible to bring a radical change in e-governance. 12 years ago, Bangladesh was a poor country without technology, with corruption.
But now under the able leadership of Sajib Wazed Joy, Bangladesh today is a technology-dependent, corruption-free Bangladesh.
Palak said the Sheikh Hasina Institute Frontier Technology is being set up to make the next generation fit to face the fourth industrial revolution.
300 schools of the future are being established in the country to teach about robotics by hand. Which will be launched in 2022.
He added that young students and researchers should be encouraged, including funding, to make more use of robots in tasks that endanger human lives. He said a robotics festival would be held in the country next year.
